On this project, I partnered with another animator, where I focused on character animation and modeling. We drew inspiration from early 1950s product commercial animations, carefully matching techniques for the environment and character styles to bring our hero, nicknamed Blobby, to life.
From the visual style to the sound design, we aimed to capture that upbeat, comedic feel that was a hallmark of the early animations we studied. I also had some fun creating bloopers for Blobby as animation tests, adding a playful touch to the process. The HFTO Suppressor animation went on to win a Telly Award.
